Dr. Cantillon serves as Senior Vice President, Global Cardiovascular Solutions at Masimo, a medical device company based in Irvine, CA specializing in non-invasive patient monitoring. Prior to this, Dr. Cantillon practiced cardiovascular medicine at Cleveland Clinic for over 16 years. His leadership positions included Associate Section Head & Research Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology and Pacing, and Medical Director of the Central Monitoring Unit (CMU). The latter provided continuous cardiac rhythm, hemodynamic and respiratory monitoring for patients at Cleveland Clinic’s main campus and 10 regional hospitals with an over 2,000 patient monitored bed capacity.

In February 2014, Dr. Cantillon was the first Cleveland Clinic physician to successfully implant a leadless cardiac pacemaker. In December 2021, Dr. Cantillon performed the world’s first entirely leadless pacemaker – defibrillator system, and then later the first dual chamber leadless pacemaker in the United States in February 2022.  

In 2016, his research was selected as one of the top 4 ‘notable papers of the year’ by the Heart Rhythm Society. An innovator, Dr. Cantillon was named the 2017 Cleveland Clinic Innovator of the Year for Health Information Technology for his work on developing the eCMU, a novel hospital-based remote patient monitoring system, and later the prestigious Sones-Favaloro award for innovation in 2020.

Dr. Cantillon has or co-authored more than 100 scientific papers, multiple chapters in medical textbooks and co-authored clinical practice guidelines. He has been an invited speaker at the Heart Rhythm Society, American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology and the International Academy of Cardiology and participated in several “Meet the Experts” or “Meet the Professor” panels and has delivered invited Grand Rounds presentations at other health systems. He held the rank of Associate Professor in the Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Cantillon served two terms on the Board of Trustees for the American College of Cardiology, Ohio Chapter, including Co-Chair of the Health Policy Committee.
