Dr. Michael Greenberg has served as Fio’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since founding the company in 2006, and has devoted his career to developing and commercializing technological innovation in health care. Prior to founding Fio Corporation, Dr. Greenberg was Chairman and CEO of Cedara Software Corp., a medical imaging software company which he grew from a start-up to a global leader. Dr. Greenberg pioneered and brought to market a medical imaging software platform that became the leading common middleware layer, integrated into MRI, CT, nuclear medicine, PET, and digital X-ray diagnostic equipment made by the world’s most powerful medical equipment manufacturers. Under his leadership, Cedara released its initial public offering on the NASDAQ Global Market, received the "Canada Award for Business Excellence in Innovation" and was listed in Profit 100, the definitive annual ranking of Canada's fastest-growing companies by five-year revenue growth. After Cedara was acquired in 2003 for five times its revenue, Dr. Greenberg went on to found Bourn Corporate Development, a consultancy to help other medical start-ups become successful businesses. Dr. Greenberg advised numerous other innovative companies in cardiology, orthopedics, dialysis, and nuclear pharmaceuticals, in all cases helping to get them from prototype to commercialization. He completed a neurosurgery residency at the University of Toronto, coincident with a postdoctoral research fellowship in biophysics awarded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health at the University of Toronto. Dr. Greenberg is also co-inventor of a foundation patent, "Probe-Correlated Viewing of Anatomical Image Data", and pioneered the global market for image-guided surgical equipment and applications, including software platforms, outsourcing, and middleware markets.
